I may send the N.Z. link to Heartland Wife:She is somewhere above the East Pacific Rise on a ship...some UNOLS ships now have satellite internet, but not sure if she does so I'll just copy the whole story. The reason is that she is in charge of the U.S. side of the SCEC-Turkey collaboration, and Tom Jordan was interested in Turkish partners in studies of earthquake predictability, and it is not clear whether anything is happening on this. I may send the article to a few of the Turkish institutional representatives if Heartland Wife thinks this is a good idea.
Snowing here again...it has been colod now for 5 straight weeks, which I think is unusual weather, but the overall temperature here for the season has still been above average because when it was warm, it was really warm (November, maybe late December-early January).
