Re: Purto Rico and earthquakes

This won't make you feel any better, but when I went to Puerto Rico in April of 2005, I checked it out seismically as my father grew up in NE Cuba and had told me about being in a quake in the 1920's there. I did some checking at the time and found that Puerto Rico's danger was, as you said, very high and is located in a seismically dangerous location. I watched it and the activity (in 2005) was quite low. After I returned, I kept an eye on in and can't miss how it has accellerated over the past year or so (maybe less). The positive news is that since 2005, the tsunami warning system has gone from nearly nonexistent to something that could actually save lives. I did notice that the fault maps had become very difficult to find, unlike in 2005. I wish that I had better news. Good luck and enjoy the wedding.
