Hi Roger:

I hear what your saying. For all practical purposes, what you propose would suffice. I prefer to do a job once, and only once, so I try to code for all possibilities ahead of time.

My position is that of a professional programmer, which is what I do for a living. I like to make my programs as robust as possible, and if I can solve problems before they happen, that's even better.

I do like the idea of limiting the effects of aftershock in this manner.

What I'd like to do is go ahead and post the numbers you gave for the hits on file in the Prediction Status Table. After my midterms this week and my trip to Boston next week, I'd like to address these ideas further. I'd like to try to code for my zillions of windows, and then compare the numbers I get with the numbers you get, just out of curiosity. I don't expect the difference to be large.

There was a series of quakes down at the south end of the salton sea about a year ago that was incredible. It rediefined the word "Swarm". I'll try to find out when that was as it would be a good testing ground for what we're talking about ....

As always, appreciate your views and input!

Michael
