Your right, any comparson to catalogs is just an estimate, without a doubt. But hey, what else do we have, right? I say "some subjectivity" because what I think we are discussing is far less subjective that somebody looking at the last 2000 posts on this board and saying a certain predictor is on to something. That would be very subjective in my opinion, and is in fact what has beeing going on in the past on this board. So, my choice of terms may not be the best but I hope I can convey my intentions....

I think choice of catalogs should be based on quality. If a local Taiwan source is more complete when compared to USGS, I'd want to go with the Taiwan source. Of course, there is nothing from precluding us from running a prediction analysis against mutiple catalogs and reporting the results for each.

As far as clustering, you may want to see the other part of this thread between Roger and I as we are discussing that item.
