So the claim is that half the dogs in Vancouver, up in Canada, could hear the precursory earthquake sounds, for the Nisqually event down south near Tacoma. And they were agitated for much of the day. And these sounds only were audible in the narrow 1-octave range over which dogs can hear and we can't, but were not present in the 6 or 8-octave range in which we can both hear.

And the physics of the ear flaps and the size of the dog's heads help determine which dogs best hear it?

I see the author is not an expert in acoustics.
