Lots of responses/a suggestion
Posted by Cathryn on March 03, 2001 at 20:33:56:

Been out of the loop for a few days. I've posted a number of responses and a couple of questions way down on the list. Lots of activity these last days.

I have a "suggestion" re: the scoring system. I don't know enough about computer programs to know if this is even possible, let alone practical, but could hits and misses be gradated by color?

For instance, the members here agree on various perameters for a hit, a near-hit, an almost-near-hit, a miss, etc. These would be based on magnitude, location, timing, etc. to allow for a degree of flux in the "scoring" (for lack of a better word).

The color spectrum could be used to indicate how much of a hit a certain prediction turned out to achieve. Red would be a tight hit; orange a little less so, yellow even less, and so on.

This may be a flaky idea; I wouldn't put anything past me these days. But in catching up on posts, it still seems this is an unresolved issue.

Dennis: Please keep posting your signals before the fact, even if you chose to post them loosely, not using the prediction form. Your input is just too valuable to keep under your belt.

Martin, you too.

Don, your info is always invaluable.

I agree that quantification is a good thing. If we could only agree on a method that everyone was happy with...
