Hi All. Did a little searching around for data for the area of the 4.4Ml near San Jose on 02/25/01, which not that far north of the of 6.2Ml on 04/24/1984.

This is the data before yesterdays quake. This is based on a 5 mile radius from the epicenter of the quake and covers one year of activity. There was considerably more, but only used last year’s data. There were no quakes inside that radius in 1998 or 1999.

As you can see two of the quakes were south of yesterdays quake. The rest were north.

This is the data before the 6.2Ml quake on 04/24/1984, which was located inside the 5 mile radius of the 02/25/01 4.4Ml quake. I used 3 years to see if there might be a different picture as to what might be in the next offering.

The one thing that stands out is that there were 6 quakes in one year before yesterdays quake and 7 quakes in three years before the 1984 quake.

The way I see yesterdays was just another series of quakes along that stretch of the fault. Then again I could be wrong. Take Care…Don in creepy town.
