This has limits also, just that they make more sense as they are tied to magnitude. That gets around the problem described with my Dusneyland example.

The idea of the log part is to weight score value much more towards the predicted occurance, which is what we're shooting for in the first place.

EQ scales usually vary by magnitude. Some are better for small EQs, others are better for large EQs. Thats something we can decide on based on what the rest of the world is using as a standard for a given magnitude. Don't see that as a problem.

So, are you saying to stick with the current scheme? Or, offer an alternative that makes sense.
