I just heard that the Indian Government won't even acknowledge that they have faults - therefore no need to change the building codes - I think there is supposed to be some changes now with a new government?

You also have to remember their way of thinking basically says: Its God's Will. Why build a better building? If its my time to go then its my time... Hard to fight such ingrained thinking.
