Its separate from any solar flare activity. Usually when we get hit by a CME, the ground based magnetometers start giving rise. Sometimes the electron flux coincides with this and sometimes it doesn't. --Dennis P.S. It still continues, so there is a good chance of some M6.8+ activity somewhere in the world in the next 5 days.
