Having studied and lived near the Triple Junction for many years, I can tell you that this activity is much more like normal than out of the ordinary. USGS has always held that the Triple Junction area is one of the most quake prone in California but the last 3 years it has been very quiet... I think we will see some changes and as a matter of fact I have been aluding to that for the past 2 weeks on Pinpoint....Also consider that when the MTJ is normally active it is extremely hard to figure out which is a trigger, which is an aftershock and such. One has to look at the depths and the proximity and also has to take into account that the USGS has not much tecchie tools up there, or down there from my location, which is why the *D shows up for accuracy so much...Sometimes University of Washingtons Iris and Golden hold the key to the resolve on this area....BUT I hedge a bit here.. It is possible that teh activity northand south may have been a trigger which caused some slippage and that slippage may not end soon....The real problem is Gorda....It is locked tighter than a drum. When it gives.....I would not hazard many a guess.
