Greetings from LA

Hi All,

I just got a password to sign on to this forum. I've been lurking here for awhile and think this board is great! So much to learn from! I love Petra and Don's discussions on what is going on in the Bay Area and their hard core evidence of why they think things tick the way they do. There are so many crazy prediction sites out there that don't have any benefit to anyone....this site is great.

I especially have enjoyed Petra's discussion of the Rodger's Creek fault and why she thinks the next big one will be there...I have to agree on that one.

I grew up in the Bay Area so I know the area and faults like I know the back of my hand. Do you guys remember how in the late 80s there was a flurry of 4s and 5s along the Calaveras fault and those 2 5 pointer foreshocks in the San Cruz area? I've noticed you guys think the same thing, but indeed it does seem like that is what is happening in the north bay all of a sudden. BTW the Calaveras fault went dead after Loma Prieta (well compared to before. :))

At any rate I hope to contribute the LA side from time to time. Have you guys ever noticed how the scientists have the Bay Area so figured out in terms of percentages and what faults in the next 30 years? Whether you take them or leave them, they don't do the same for LA. There is just this generic 80% probability for LA in the next 30 years. No fault listing, no area of higher vs. lower. I don't know if it is because we are in such la la land down here that is the reason or if the geology is more complex than SF and that is why.

Anyway I'm looking forward to contributing more.

Later,

Todd
