You ask whether more $ will be appropriated for research into earthquake prediction [as a result of the new Speaker being from California] . . . I, personally, hope that that decision will be science-driven. Implicit in your question is the assumption that such decisions have not been heretofore based on science. I submit that, our nation's ideologically-driven anti-science agenda notwithstanding, those decisions have been appropriately made. The ideology has, fortunately, not extended that far down into the decision-making process.
