So - How's That Prediction Going? |
I haven't time to look closely, but I think the largest "Hawaii-area" quake during the specified period was an M2.5, and it was 149 miles from Honolulu - i.e. much closer to many locations on the Big Island than to Honolulu. Right in the aftershock zone of the October 15 M6.7 off the Kona Coast. It would be nice if predictors took just a moment to acknowledge their misses. As Glen does. A brief scan of the other earthquake prediction sites, and my very brief calculations, show around a 10: or 20:1 ratio of predictions to acknowledgements of failure . . . At least it's a smaller ratio than exists for predictions to successes! "Earthwaves Prediction Forum - The Premier Site For Keeping Them Honest!" Michael F.
