communication

Most scientists are not known for their ability to communicate to the public. That is why those that do, and good science journalists like Al Gore (there, is that a better characterization?), are important. But, being too confrontational too often is not the way to sway opinion. I may have tendencies towards that, but am at least a little careful, especially on this pape. I think that Mike goes a little far at times. On the other hand, when a post is just not logical (does not make sense) or had some other serious problem I have been known to post beneath calling that person on it. I've posted beneath predictions for Great earthquakes, mainly Shan's, because I thought there was a public safety issue because his predictions may be taken seriously in that part of the world...but I would give him credit for his close prediction of the March 2005 M8.7 (which was then followed by about 5 more predictions of great quakes for the same region). EQF used to post all the time here, and it annoyed various people who would post beneath EQF's, but beyond stating that the predictions by him/her on this page are too vague to be useful, or are non-existent, there is not much more to do. Bringing conflicts in from other pages brings down the level here although I suppose if someone links to their own page, it is fair game.
