Good observation and question, Cathryn. And I'd also like to pin him down regarding the location of the epicenter. It is very nebulous as stated. The last time an off-hand, non-specific prediction for a "Bay Area" quake (not by this predictor)was posted here, it turned out that just being felt in the "Bay Area" was sufficient to claim that the prediction was fulfilled - the epicenter not actually being in the "Bay Area" at all.

I'm off tomorrow evening for a five-day Geology class field trip to Yosemite, Owens Valley, Lone Pine and environs! And my instructor has insisted I become a tutor, despite my insistence that my expertise, such as it is, is almost exclusively in just the seismology area!
