See my post above. I do so want to believe that the LP earthquake in 1989 was failure on the SAF, and not some minor fault, only capable of producing a 7+ event. I would sleep better at night if I knew we in the Santa Cruz area already had had our own segment of the SAF fail insead of living in a state of "ready to rupture."

I live only 3-4 miles from the epicenter. I want to know if this was the SAF failing or some other fault that runs through the region, such as the Sargeant Fault. *Knowing* it was the SAF would take that worry off my head.
