At SCEC meeting...need to listen to Jim Rice talk on fault damage zones

had breakfast with a bunch of seismologists...asked Tom Heaton about the anna olsen and heaton poster. Not fair game for me to report on conversation without his permission, but I can link to their abstract....go to link and then search title:

What they are saying is that if the simulations of ground motion in various scenario quakes are correct, tall buildings will fall down. Ductile welds better than brittle welds....
