I would usually only read for 20 minutes, then open the floor for discussion. I remember the Djurassi/Mayes as a very long luncheon, and we were essentially the entertainment. So I did read the whole first chapter of "Rocket City," which ran about half an hour. Then the questions. I sold a ton of books that day (There were about three hundred people there--a large crowd, and I enjoyed meeting Frances Mayes (but not Djurassi, who was arrogant beyond belief). I still hate publicity. Bah!
