Comforting yes...but remember Loma Prieta? That was proceeded by 2 5+ quakes, one over a year and the other 2 months before. Both times USGS issues a warning for the Bay Area for the next 5 days and both times it didn't happen, then 2 months later it did. So they were on to something. Same story for Landers. It was proceeded 2 months by a large foreshock. SUpposedly 1933 Long Beach had several foreshocks but I have been unable to find their magnitudes and the time they occured vs. the main quake.
