Thanks for your thoughts. I did hear some distant coyotes last night at sundown, but not the ones on the acreage that surrounds our house.

And it is unseasonably warm on the central CA coast. Must be in the 90's.

As for animals sensing an impending earthquake, I wholeheartedly believe it, even though before our 4.7, our dogs did nothing unusual to speak of. I think they can hear the ground, if you know what I mean. Their range of hearing being so different than ours, I think they might make excellent sentries if you know what to look for.

I do know that back in 1989, after Loma Prieta (which I missed by hours, having flown to NYC that morning) or little chihuahua terrier mix was quite distraught. She escaped from where she was staying and came to our front door and just cried and cried until another neighbors took her in. Then she dove under their covers for a few days until we could fly home.

Anyone else have an opinion on animals and impending earthquakes?
