It was not fun to come home to, but with each aftershock, I found myself just a little less terrified of earthquakes.

I should add that an entire wing of that hotel at the airport collapsed, and a lot of debris hit our car, parked there for a week. It's funny the little things you remember about big events. I remember that a convention of nuns were also staying at our hotel, some of them foreign, a lot from the midwest and east. I concluded a whole lot of rosary beads were picked at that morning (or whatever one does with them. What do you do with them? Count? Totally OT, but now I'm curious.)
