Yup, that's the only sound I heard, too. The sound that woke me before the first tremor. Talk about starting with a bang. And man, that 58 seconds was interminable. I lived at what was then Weyburn Hall, next to Bullocks on the corner of Weyburn and Tiverton. All the water sloshed out of the pool at the dorm, books on shelves became missiles, and I, having been thrown out of bed, stood in my dorm room holding on to the door handle for what seemed for effing ever. Didn't Northridge strike at dawn, too? What is it about dawn and earthquakes? I see too many correllations to think they are accidental. Anyone? Cathryn
