Curious Phenomena With Areal Strain

Hi All. A curious phenomena has been brought to my attention that I thought I would share. There appears to be identical changes in the tensor strain for the state of California at least with the areal data. At first I thought this might be cause by electrical interference. I have learned that the variations due to electronic effects (which do occur) are filtered out before these data are put on the web - at least for strain this is true. What was brought to my attention the two areal strains overlay (Chabot 30-day and Coldbrook 30-day). Those two except for a short period of two days in mid-September the strain records is identical. This suggest that the areal strain is not a local effect but rather caused by factors which affect the entire state simultaneously. These effects must be regional and global.

What is not known is if this is a one-time occurrence or if it’s ongoing. Starting today I will be printing the 30-day page once a month and will look for any patterns that present themselves. Take Care…Don in creepy town.
