So Discovery Times channel just ran an hour long special on earthquake triggering studies. Expored Parkfield, Landers-Big Bear and Turkey. It got me to thinking, based on what has happened in Turkey could the San Anreas behave the same way? I.E. stress along it building and releasing in orderly fashion up the coast? Could 1857 have triggered 1906? They were only 50 years apart. Both great earthquakes. It seems interesting that there was a substantial spike in quakes in the bay area after 1857 that culminated in 1906. Anyone else heard of any studies of a link?
