Hi Canie, Bob. If you look at this link you may have a better understanding as to why Oregon and the Northern most part of California as well as parts of Nevada are doing what they are doing. There is a narrow interpretation of plate tectonic modeling and should be considered prudent because northeastern California is something like a concealed triple junction partly analogous to the Mendocino triple junction that lies to the west, thus a different tectonic regime may apply.
