Petra...depends on how you look at it...there are not very many right-lateral continental transform faults in the world. The part of the NAF that I have looked at (via data) in Marmara Sea is a lot like offshore southern California.
But, yes, one of the topics of the workshop we are running is why the NAF ruptures like you describe and the SAF does not...at least that we know of...

Don...yeah...correct...you did not say evil but you had some post recently that had something to do with gas or taxes or both..
