Hi All. Petra had her operation. The doctors survived Petra and Petra survived the doctors. Not sure how the nurses are holding up though. The doctor that did the operation said he removed a tumor the size of an apple, but didn't say what kind of apple. From the opening he made in her tummy I got the impression that it was a somewhat large apple. I was able to see her about 10 minutes after they brought her into the recovery room. She was still pretty groggy, but was in good spirits. The nurses chased me out and told me they were going to clean her up and then take her to her room. I would be able to see her there in about 10 minutes. When I saw her in her room they were hooking her up to various tubes and what have you. I saw they had her hooked to a morphine pump. I learned from the nurse that Petra could administer 125mg of morphine every 10 minutes. That isn't enough to put her out, but is just enough to make the pain bearable. On a scale of 1 to 10 Petra was an 8, which is quite painful. I stayed with for about an hour, but she would drift in and out of sleep so I left her alone so she could get some rest and quite.
I saw her again a couple of hours later and she told me not to make her laugh then she started laughing. That brought a moan from her. I told her to stop laughing. She was finely able to stop.
She can't have food to eat or water to drink. She can suck on a sponge with water to keep her mouth wet, but that is the extent of any liquid that she can have.
She has no idea as to how long she is going to be there, but at the moment she isn't to keen on wanting to come home. Can't say that I blame her any. She said she wanted to loose some weight, but this isn't exactly the way she wanted to do it. All in all she is doing okay. Take Care...Don
