Re: Earthquake Prediction by Animals

Hello Eg, Thanks for bringing our attention to the article. Though almost everyone knows, animals have a keen sense of impending disasters of any nature. That's because, unlike people, they use their natural instincts to discern when to run for cover. We humans, for the most part, seem to want to reason why we think we need to run for cover and by the time we've reasoned it away, then the natural disaster arrives and we keep saying to ourselves, "I thought of that before." Of course, that's if we survive and have anyone to tell afterwards. To be honest with ourselves, in finding a place inside science to research animal behavior, its fine as long as its a whale or a dolphin and we talk about sonar. However, in relationship to earthquakes, animals and such, for some reason seems to lose its value. A few years ago there was a woman who lived in Tracy, CA, out by the delta. Before volcanic activity at Mammoth Lakes she had the good fortune of viewing rabbits in the wild in a field near her home. Every single time she made mention of those rabbits going crazy, something happened. It was one of the best prediction methods by animals I've ever seen. But who wants to research rabbits for earthquake prediction. No one I know. I believe, its all there, for all of us. But to find a group of people who are open minded enough to look further than the end of their noses and have the financing to do so, has not yet occurred. I'm not the least doubtful though, that one day, out of the clear blue, like the magic that exists everyday, its going to happen. Thanks for the post...Petra
