That's a good point. It's not going to come together all at once. There's going to be little developments in all sorts of places. Now that I think about it, it's probably going ot be a lot like the physics world. A lot of scientists had figured out a lot of the pieces. Newton had the laws of motion and gravity. Maxwell figured out electromagnetism. Planck gave us the quanta. Others each had their own little niche. Many knew it should all come together in one description, but how? Then come's along a super-genius that looks at all the pieces and figures out how it all goes together and causes a paradigm shift. Einstein did that with relativity. He took all the seperate ideas and melded them into one model (mostly). Seismology is such a young science. We don't have enough pieces figure out yet to get the big picture. It may take a super-genius to do it, too. Brian
