The last hosting company had the same panel - and I have the same limitation with these guys on the FTP (won't list more than 2000 files - the message dir here has about 34,000 files) - BUT, I do have Shell access.. so I can edit files if necessary.

Speed may be relative - the other host was in Southern California.. so close to me.. and very fast.

BUT - The server we're on here looks like a new server and has lots of resources available, where the other one was about 85% used..
