That's probably how Gary Sieh felt when he repeatedly told the locals beforehand that Sumatra was about to snap. Even went as far as distributing literature of what would occur, and how reletivelt soon it would occur.

If you warn them you are a chicken little who gets marginalized. If you don't you are presented as the idiot after the event who should have said something. Catch-22 either way.
Been dealing with that mindset for years. Then when everything falls apart in clusters, then they get angry because you warned them, and they didn't act.
It's amazing what happens when they can't point the finger at you.
