Mike,
In a recent article written about my book, a conservative CA reporter wrote: "Even mainstream scientists still fear 'the big one' could destroy the state's levee system and leave California under water."
So, no CA will not fall into the ocean, Mike. But meanwhile, may I suggest that you brush up on your swimming skills? (In your spare time you might want to see if ALL of the CA buildings in SF and LA are up to code.)

One of the reasons knowledgeable Californians don't sit constantly on the edges of our seats is that we realize that California's absolute worst-case scenario, with a return interval of several hundred years, will likely kill only a tiny percentage of those living in the meizoseismal area. As some seismologist has previously said, "Earthquakes don't kill people, buildings do."
