OK John,

I was looking at the recurrence of 6 mag quakes. I think the elevated risk is due to the developement in the areas of these faults. I was not referring to large ruptures. In that case, the Coachella segment is way over due. I think the 6 to 7 mags are more worrisome, simply because they happen more often, and the damage potential has grown in a linear progression for a number of years. Just so we are on the same page, the population increase has made the 6 to 7 mags more destructive since the time of rapid developement after WW II.

How soon? No more than 2 years for a 6+ strong quake. The biggie? We're all trying to figure that one out. When, not a clue, to be honest.
