Another nickname I've acquired... Those berries sound great, I found as a kid that when people paid my friends and I a small per bucket sum for blackberries, we could save injury by using flattened cardboard boxes for shields against thorns. I just returned from Tofino and there are many berries about to be ripe at the same time there. Blackberry. Salal, sinamocka (sic?), Huckleberry, Salmonberry and (yuck!) Thimbleberry. What a feast with porridge in the morning while camping at Kennedy Lake, my favorite spot to swim and entertain summer visitors to Tofino. Ever considered acquiring a new/used ATV with a carry rack for your excursions to the backwoods? Hope your having fun, although I'd recommend caution with the back for a while yet, a month of INactivity and then USE will leave even a healthy back sore. I was digging around in several locations of Tsunami deposits near Tofino last week. I have an uneasy but interested audience for my geotalk there as you might imagine. Take care and thanks, I enjoy your posts too Petra, thanks for sharing,...mb.
