Faults within 200 miles

Since Jim centers Kathy's headaches from Los Angeles (actually she's in Santa Monica), there are several dozens of faults and unnamed faults within that area. Additionally, the LA basin is described as a bunch of glass shards all pressed together. So with that in mind, it really does make it difficult to say where the quake might occur.

Speaking of Kathy's record, technically she didn't have a post out prior to the Hector quake which is within that 200 miles. Yes, she had a headache (or so she says), but for some reason wasn't able to get the post out. I wonder what magnitude Jim would have posted for the quake had she posted on time. This latest go around that we are still waiting for, she had posted about a headache that was more intense then she could really remember so Jim posted for a larger magnitude. But then when she followed up with the headache being over already (about a days worth) Jim lowered the expected magnitude. So it would seem that magnitude is based on both duration and intensity of the headache. But which is the deciding factor? Duration? Intensity? It seems that there is still alot to be learned.

Also, if I remember right, Jim's posts have varied with the mileage. It hasn't always been 200 miles. But in reality, the reporting of the headaches are Kathy's doing. The actual predictions are Jim's perceptions of what those headaches mean. Without being able to get a really good handle on the intensity of the headache, it would seem that getting a good handle on what the magnitude will be would be really difficult.
