Centennial Day 2006

Hi All,

I finally found out where they do the annual commerative event for the anniversary of the 1906 earthquake. It's at a place called Lotta's Fountain and it was dedicated in her honor. Does anyone recall the songbird Lotta Crabtree who used to charm the miners in the Sonora Area with her spider dance? She is one in the same.

My thoughts of wearing period costume I learned is something that has been done annually as well as people driving 1906 automobiles to the festivities. There is another ceremony held afterwards at 23rd and Clement where they paint the single fire hydrant that survived the earthquake with a new layer of gold.

So if you are of a mind to go, see the link and you'll know where to arrive.
