Yes, I am interested in the subject...and I probably need to read some of his papers. I think trying to choose the "most...." scientist is pointless and I am a little put-off by AGU and GSA taking too much effort and space to nominate people for awards...I think there are more important things to do...let's see...response to disasters in poor countries comes to mind..especially those disasters that one can see coming...like the floods in Central America from Mitch, or the flooding from heavy rains in surrounding countries in Mozambique.
