HAZUS is a FEMA (national), not OES (California) program, and apparently you can use the front door. Per http://www.nibs.org/hazusweb/overview/overview.php , "To order HAZUS publications, visit the FEMA website. FEMA provides HAZUS free-of-charge." Also, Petra, for your project, and, if you have access to The Bulletin of The Seismological Society of America, the latest (December 2005) issue has an article by Michael A. Fisher, et al, titled "Recent Deformation Along the Offshore Malibu Coast, Dume, and Related Faults West of Point Dume, Southern California." It includes a great deal of information about "major thrust faults that dip morth and deform rocks at shallow depth below the seafloor. Because of young movement, these faults potentially pose a significant earthquake hazard." Also included is a great fold-out map. These thrust faults might be useful for compounding the disaster scenario for your Catalina Island quake . . . Mike W.
