earthquakes triggered by building |
someone posted this here earlier, but not with enough information to be able to tell if it makes sense. The link gives the abstract....and I guess it is plausible....the important thing is that these are normal earthquakes...a vertical load on top of the hanging-wall of the fault makes it more likely that you will get a normal earthquake, while it makes it less likely that you would get a reverse earthquake (a large excavation like a quarry can make a reverse/thrust earthquake).
