Keep in mind I wasn't totally awake when I read your post. Rereading it I realize it can be taken two ways. Either you don't believe in tuning into Fido and Fluffy for a warning to an upcoming quake or perhaps you do. Either way, I want to share this unique book with you. It will help you to see how you can tune into your own body or turn to Mother Nature when your computer is down and/or you're on vacation in a faraway land and don't have any hi-tech tools to help you predict a quake.
