I understand...

Please know that I spent 6 years in the United States Air force from 1971 to 1977. The two airmen in the next room in our barracks are still in Vietnam. Thier B-52 was shot down over Hanoi in December of 1972 during Linebacker II, a viscous bombing attack carried out by the United States. I know the cost of war.

When I left active duty in 1974, I went into the Air National Guard. I also tried to go to college, but the GI Bill was so scanty that I could not live on it. I made it through one semester in JC, and had to give up. I took a geology class. I still have the book from that class. "Geology Today", was written for college level students, and the main contributing consultants were Bruce Bolt and Sir Edward Bullard. But let's face it, there was not enough money to train the Vietnam Veterans. What a shame.

How many young people are being robbed of opportunity now because of the money spent in Iraq? We should have 5 or 6 Parkfield research projects going right now in California. Think results, not politics. I want results.
