I do not favor government supplied health care. Government subsidized health care is part of what created this crisis in the first place. Free market economics are what's needed to make the system better and I WOULD be in favor of a government supported plan to increase the total number of doctors per capita through education investment. (I read that there are the same number of doctors per capita in the US as there were in the 1950's.)

We need competition in the marketplace - not government issued and controlled access to health care. I pay through the nose to provide coverage for my family and more choice would reduce that expense. One gigantic, disconnected, and unmotivated source of coverage would only worsen health care across the board.

Lastly, I think its fair to say that what the government pays for - it can control. So, if we tax payers are footing the bill for someone's bypass, does the government get to regulate that person's diet? Does the government get to outlaw french fries because of the related expense burden on the federal health care system?

My opinion is just that, but I am a LONG way from being a sheep.
