Considering the area is riddled with numerous and complex faults, it's a wonder anyone could find anything in there. One small hint, look toward the San Gabriel Mountains, east of Santa Monica. When Popo has a very major eruption and the weather is pushing the clouds from the volcano north, get out of town quick. Don't think, just get in the car and go. Better yet, charter a boat. There's less traffic that way.
