I've never heard of Mandrake or Ambient and have very limited knowledge of Linux. And I'm not sure I understand your problem exactly. But, essentially, wouldn't you just need to download the Linux driver from the manufacturer's website (for the modem) and follow the instructions that should be included for how to install the driver? If you cannot get the file onto Linux from Windows, then you'd need to install a networking utility, such as "LTOOLS" (shareware), to allow Windows and Linux to communicate.
