A Great Loss Occurred for Earthquake Prediction

Today, I learned of the death of a person who had gotten me started in the world of earthquake prediction. It was thru him that I had learned of some of the things to watch for that occur prior to earthquakes. There was still a lot that he hadn't confided with me on and so these are now lost forever.

This person had predicted the Landers/Big Bear quakes where he knew that there were two quakes coming.

This person also predicted the Northridge quake.

It was because of the Northridge quake that I got interested in earthquake prediction as it hit me close to home causing a lot of damage. After learning about his prediction I had approached him asking to work together with him. He agreed and the rest is history.

This person also ran a web site for a while called Quake Finders but he disbanded it after more than a year.

Even though he and I had parted ways, I had always felt a closeness to him and missed my discussions with him as he was fun to talk to.

I will forever be indebted to Cal Klepper (a co-worker for over 15 years) and will deeply miss him.

Dennis
