M6 oblique thrust Gulf of Mexico

This is such an unusual earthquake that I checked to make sure it was on the news: it is:

The link below is to USGS ...it is a M6 oblique thrust. This is really unusual and deserves a lot of study...because it bears on hazard if it wad closer to shore. Imagine a M6 in New Orleans, or Tampa. So, it would be good to know what structure it was on. A M6 offshore Lousians could also cause underwater slide that could take out oil rigs a la Katrina (which did it by large waves presumably changing pressure on the bottom as they passed).
