I think that trying to find what frequency it is that your hearing is part of the problem. Not a problem in the sense of predicting earthquakes, but a problem in another area.

With Charlotte, what she heard was in the ULF band. That is what the navy uses to communicate with the subs. Now if we started developing equipment for listening for earthquakes, what would that do to the navy and national security? I think that is the real problem and the reason as to why its not being looked into.

In regards to emergency assistance, if site specific emergency response are the only ones on alert being in position and in the ready, how are hospitals going to assist people when the hospital itself is unusable? How are firemen going to help outside of a few blocks of them when they are blocked from going anywhere by fallen debri.

As to government employees not being allowed to predict earthquakes, and the USGS only reporting the possibility to the government, do you really think the government is going to let anyone else know? I, for one, very seriously believe that they would keep it to themselves not letting the general public know that they are in danger.
