mrrabbit; It won't work. No one will cooperate with such a restrictive plan. That's why I allow any sort of prediction. You-know-who's dartboard doesn't cause me any problems. But I MUST have a reliable source and defined limits. This business of arguing over whether a quake east of Japan is a hit when the prediction was for the China Sea just won't fly. Terse is a great help. Shan's predictions were more than I could handle, a major job to distill down to "just the facts". I still need a way to determine if a quake is inside an irregular polygon. I know it can be done and I should be able to define areas like California with a series of points around the perimeter. In the past I've used a series of one-degree lat-lon squares but that's a pain to set up. Roger
