Re: cat scan - no ear tone

I can't recall how many cat scans I've had, and not one of them has inspired an ear tone. Whose idea was it that there was a connection in the first place?

In 1993 I was a passenger in a car that was rear-ended. Long story short, I now have a 4-level spinal fusion (after a one-level didn't kill the pain), a 33+" titanium rod in my neck, and a lovely scar across the front of my neck that might as well scream, "O.J. was here."

Don't recall any ear tones after surgery, just pain on the edge of childbirth, as my doctor, who had underprescribed my meds based on my low body weight, was stuck in the operating room trying to put together a woman who thought jumping off the tallest hotel roof in Monterey was a good way of committing suicide.

I guess I should feel grateful instead of bitter, but really, how much time would it have taken for some nurse to ask the doctor in surgery if he would PLEASE up my morphine? Took five hours to finally get some relief.

One here might find that poetic justice, but then, he'd be forgetting the Percocet I gave him when he was in a great deal of pain of his own. How soon we forget who our friends are. Or were.

C'est la vie.
